Beginning in January of 2018, I started this program as a means of giving back to the people in my hometown. As an immigrant, I have access to more educational privileges and opportunities than these children do and it is my firm belief that education is vital to breaking the cycle of poverty.
What began as a means of giving up my birthday money in order to provide food and school supplies for underprivileged elementary school students at Durog Elementary School, Antique, Philippines quickly became a more influential and steady program. In response, this program has caused the creation of other programs benefiting provincial schools and has allowed us to feed, clothe, and supply the 50+ children at Durog so they can focus on what is truly important: learning. Our next goal is to help these children not only learn, but to play by providing athletic supplies so that they can compete in local sports competitions with other schools.
